Painting cattle

This is what I am busy with at the moment .The painting is of a boy on a donkey herding some cattle, the cattle are the typical African type(Nguni cattle) their coats are an interesting mixture of blotches ,spots and other patterns which I have found fun to paint.I  will be having a solo exhibit in Gaborone during July,at the Frame Gallery ,so I have got to get about 20 paintings together.I am not sure how I am going to manage to get so many done in just 4 months.I will have to focus on getting some smaller pieces done ,which are quicker to complete than larger ones.

This is what is on my easel at the moment.

Some progress shots,I am not yet finished with this cow ,still have to finish its ears and eyes.

Very nice so far. I look forward to seeing it finished. Do you have a website showing your completed work? Did your parents teach you or did you attend an art school? Do you work from photographs only or field sketches also?
All the best.

Thanks you all for your comments.Doug I don't have a website showing all my finished paintings, you would find many of them on this blog,I am trying to get as much art as possible that is good enough for prints onto fine art america,so very soon you should be able to see the finished art there, the links are on my blog.I am basically self taught, learning what I could from my critics (my Mom and Dad),later on I did a basic art correspondence course through Penn Foster.I use photos as reference only ,i enjoy creating my own compositions ,so you wont find a painting of mine based on one photo but rater a couple. For example the painting of the cattle is of two photos taken in different years ,but since the light and shadows are the same I am combining the two.
That's great news about your work at the Frame Gallery Roger. I wish you a lot of succes to create your paintings.
This cow is also very very nice. Your art is so beautiful and inspirational. Lovely. I see forward to the finished painting.
Lovely greet Marja

Have not yet done much more on this painting except for adding some trees in the background and have also been distracted by another painting featuring some boys around a fire at night. So will post updates as soon as more work is done.
